We’re pleased to announce a new original stage production, Quentin Blake’s Mrs Armitage On Wheels, which will receive its world premiere in February 2026 as part of Southbank Centre’s Imagine Festival.

Adapted for the stage for the first time, the production expands the animated world of Quentin Blake’s Box of Treasures into a live theatrical format, combining puppetry and original live music. Directed and adapted by Samantha Lane, Artistic Director of Little Angel Theatre, the show brings Quentin Blake’s iconic inventor to life through imaginative staging and playful visual storytelling, designed for family audiences.
Developed in collaboration with an experienced creative team across theatre, puppetry, and live music, the production reflects Esk’s ongoing focus on creating high-quality, story-led live work that translates screen-based worlds into compelling stage experiences.
The production is led by an experienced creative team including Jessie Maryon Davies (Music & Lyrics), Ryan Dawson Laight (Set & Costume Design), Maia Kirkman-Richards (Puppetry Design & Direction), Joshie Hariette (Lighting Design), and Ian Oakley (Sound Design). The show is produced by Esk in association with Eagle Eye Drama, Little Angel Theatre, and Roast Productions.
Mrs Armitage On Wheels will run at Southbank Centre from 18–21 February 2026, joining Esk’s growing slate of original live productions developed in partnership with leading cultural organisations.
